Discover Fat Bao

If you're ever in Paris and craving something a little different, Fat Bao on Rue de la Boule Rouge should be on your list. Nestled in the heart of Paris, this cozy yet modern diner offers a unique blend of flavors that you won’t find anywhere else in the city. Located at 10 Rue de la Boule Rouge, 75009, France, Fat Bao isn't just another spot for a meal; it’s a place that brings the warmth of Asian comfort food to the bustling streets of Paris.

From the moment you step inside, the ambiance feels inviting and laid-back. The design is sleek with a touch of contemporary charm that sets a welcoming tone. Whether you’re popping in for a quick bite or sitting down for a relaxed dinner with friends, the vibe is always easygoing. Fat Bao has nailed that balance of being both trendy and comfortable, making it perfect for a casual dining experience in one of the world's most famous cities.

Now, let's talk about the menu. The star of the show, of course, is the bao bun. These little pockets of deliciousness are expertly crafted, soft, and just the right amount of pillowy. The fillings range from traditional pork belly to more inventive options like fried chicken or tofu for a veggie-friendly choice. Each one is packed with flavor and made to order, ensuring every bite is fresh and satisfying. The sauces they use, a perfect balance of sweet and savory, bring everything together with a delightful kick.

For those who crave something more substantial, the rice bowls at Fat Bao are a standout. You’ve got your choice of chicken, beef, or the fan-favorite BBQ pork, all served over a bed of perfectly seasoned rice. The portions are generous, and the flavor profile is a comforting mix of Asian spices that’ll make you feel right at home. The rice bowls are a great option if you’re looking for a heartier meal to fuel your adventures around Paris.

Another must-try? The dumplings. Fat Bao’s dumplings are delicate but packed with flavor. Whether you opt for the steamed or fried variety, each bite is filled with a savory surprise that complements the light yet satisfying texture of the dumpling wrappers. They come in various fillings, with the pork and cabbage being a fan favorite, but there’s something for everyone on the menu. These are perfect for sharing with a group or enjoying as an appetizer before your main course.

While the menu is packed with mouthwatering dishes, Fat Bao also takes care to cater to a variety of dietary preferences. Vegetarians and vegans will find plenty of options, and the staff is more than happy to accommodate special requests. Whether it’s adjusting the spice levels or ensuring your meal is dairy-free, the team goes above and beyond to make sure your dining experience is enjoyable.

Fat Bao is not just about amazing food, though-it’s the overall experience that makes it stand out. The service is friendly and attentive, and the staff is always eager to offer recommendations or explain the menu if you're unfamiliar with certain dishes. It’s clear they care about creating an experience, not just serving a meal. Whether you're a local or a tourist, the atmosphere at Fat Bao makes you feel like you're part of something special.

The location is another win. Situated in the 9th arrondissement, you're just a short walk from some of Paris's most iconic landmarks, such as the Opéra Garnier and the famous Galeries Lafayette. After enjoying your meal, you can stroll through the neighborhood, taking in the Parisian sights and sounds, or pop into nearby shops for a little post-meal shopping.

It’s also worth noting that Fat Bao has earned rave reviews from locals and tourists alike. Many guests highlight the consistency of the food quality, which keeps them coming back. Whether it's the perfectly tender bao buns or the delightful crunch of the dumplings, the feedback from satisfied customers speaks volumes about the restaurant's commitment to quality. The casual yet refined vibe also attracts those looking for a quick yet satisfying meal in a comfortable setting.

Fat Bao's commitment to quality and customer satisfaction has made it a standout in a city filled with dining options. With each dish, from the bao buns to the rice bowls, you can taste the love and attention to detail that goes into every meal. If you're in Paris and looking for a memorable meal that combines unique flavors with a welcoming atmosphere, Fat Bao is the place to be. Whether it's your first visit or your tenth, you'll leave feeling full, satisfied, and eager to return for more.

  • One of my best bao in my life! Sometimes bao bread doesn’t give much taste but this restaurant was different. All the ingredients are tasty and look fresh. The chicken bao, pork dumplings and aubergine dish are great. The black sesame crème brule is something you shouldn’t miss.

  • Overall, I really enjoyed this restaurant. The service was fantastic as was the food. Very delicious. It's a really small place so it feels really cramped and it's super noisy. The decor is also really fun with authentic Taiwanese signs (it's too bad they don't serve the food shown in some of the signs, like stinky tofu!). My only gripe was the way they steamed and served the fat dumplings. These are supposed to be like xiao long bao, or soup dumplings. As the name suggests, the feature is the soup inside the dumplings. Sadly, because they were steamed too close together, they tore when I tried to separate them, causing all the delicious soup inside to leak out. Flavor-wise, they were wonderful. They just need to use a bigger steamer so the dumplings aren't touching.

  • Amazing food! We came back twice within a week. We ordered cucumbers, aubergines, pork/chicken bao, Taiwanese chicken, dumplings, home lemonade, black sesame crème brûlée and mochi. The food is amazing. Only dumplings taste the same as in other places, but the rest is incredible. One minus - the chicken bao with kimchi barely has any kimchi, should be definitely more. Lemonade really tasty, crème brûlée really interesting, mochi also good.

  • Great place for dumplings and baos (they are amazing). The room is a bit tiny but the atmosphere is super nice and the service kind and efficient. And they play good music as well.

  • Fun, tasty, quick and affordable. The food was delicious, service friendly (multiple languages), and prices affordable. I liked the vibe - recreating a street scene in the restaurant even with mini clothes hanging out to dry! Cute! We had buns, dumplings and veggies. All very tasty!! They also serve beer.

  • It was hands down the best meal we had in Paris, every dish was delicious and perfectly prepared, and the drinks were just as amazing. The staff and owners were genuinely warm and welcoming from start to finish. Can’t wait to come back and hopefully see them again someday in Guadalajara, Mexico
